Taste the world one country at a time with Try The World
If you’ve been following Taste Of The Place for awhile, you know I’m a huge Try The World fan. How could I not be? They help subscribers experience a new region of the world through its food every month! So cool!
Anyway, I thought it was high time I wrote a few words about my Try The World experience.
(I’ll warn you now, this is a glowing, happy-customer review. You’re not going to find a lot of negative stuff here.)
What is Try The World?
Try The World offers a couple different monthly food subscriptions.
Their Signature box contains, in their words, “A curated selection of gourmet foods—including ingredients to cook with, drinks, and snacks—from a new country every month, plus a Culture Guide to help you create an authentic culinary experience at home.”
The Signature box is what I subscribe to. I especially like this option, because it gives me the supplies to cook authentic dishes from whatever country is featured. It typically contains some sort of spice blend, a couple prepared sauces or spreads, something sweet, and a variety of other tasty goodies. Plus every box has a lovely culture guide, complete with recipes and meal suggestions to get the exploration started right away.
They also offer a smaller Snack box, with a selection of packaged snacks from around the world. This box is great for the person who wants to try a sampling of world flavors, but doesn’t necessarily want to whip up a global meal in their kitchen. It’s not a good choice for you, however, if you aren’t much of a snacker, or you want to avoid packaged foods.
What does a subscription to Try The World cost?
As of this writing, a month to month subscription of the Signature box costs $39/month, and $19/month for the Snack box.
Yes, this is a luxury purchase, however, I find the price of a Try The World subscription to be quite reasonable compared to other food subscription services.
By the way, you can get $15 off your first Signature Box if you use code TasteOfThePlace15 – pretty cool, huh?
How are the ingredients?
Almost every product I’ve gotten in my Try The World boxes has been very high quality, with clean ingredients.
Many of the packaged products are made by small producers, sourcing unusual and delicious regional items.
The one complaint I have with the service is that some products contain more sugar than I would prefer, and very rarely I get a product that doesn’t meet my ingredient standards (the occasional artificial color or preservative, for example). Thankfully, this seems to be the exception, and not the rule.
Who is Try The World for?
If you love trying new foods, and exploring different cultures – especially through food, then I recommend you try Try The World.
Personally, I think the Signature Box is the way to go, as it assists you in diving deeply into a new culture every month, and gets you into the kitchen cooking with new and exciting flavors and ingredients.
